Traditional TreatmentsWhole House Termite FumigationHydrex Pest Control also offers Traditional Tent Fumigation when location or amount of infestations prevent effective treatment with alternative methods. Treating Subterranean Termites This treatment consists of the use of termiticides injected around foundations or pressure treated under slabs. This treatment leaves a protective barrier in place that termites will not cross, effectively denying them access to wood members of a structure. The above photo is an example of a subterranean termite migration tube or "sub tube". Subterranean termites construct these tubes to travel from their nest in the soil, to their food source, the wood of your home.
Alternative Treatments for Termite ControlElectro-Gun
Utilizing four U.S. patented designs, this system allows electrical current to penetrate wood and flow into the galleries and nests of drywood termites, killing them by electrical shock. Since the Electro-Gun's first introduction in 1980, tens of thousands of homes have been successfully treated, as have nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, condominiums, apartments and even historic landmarks, such as the Point Loma Lighthouse in San Diego. Hydrex has used the Electro-Gun since 1981. Over 100,000 treatments have been performed across the U.S. Micro-WaveThe Microwave Generator Unit has been designed for the eradication of dry wood termites and wood destroying beetles living with wood timber and framing of furniture and structures. The means of treatment consists of administering a lethal dose of microwaves at the areas of infestation. During procedure thermal cooking occurs to infestation within infested timbers. Immediately upon completion of treatment, it is safe for re-entry because no microwaves remain behind, this is similar to opening the door on a household microwave oven after cooking with it. Microwave treatment of insects is not a new technology, in fact, it has been around and in use for 15 years. We do believe it is becoming more in demand as the public becomes more aware of the environmental and health problems caused by conventional fumigation with poisonous gases.
